There’s satisfaction in knowing that the writing piece one has done is the best possible work one could have done, together with a conscientious editor, who fills in the flawed parts with a deft touch.
However, in my experience, some editors or admin staff of online publications don’t really edit, but they are what some call, posters, in that they post the piece without editing it.
In these times, the pressure is on the writer, quite unfairly, to produce the quality edit that an editor would have. Is it worth it? Unless one is sure their piece is up to scratch from the outset. Isn’t that how it works? Yes and no. The onus is on the writer to produce quality work, but with an editor, another pair of eyes, a second view.
Therefore, a writer must make a decision, to go with the publication that posts and the writer aims to produce flawless material upfront, or flag the ‘posters’.
