I came across an encouraging obituary.
The late Billy Milton starred in some twenty-five feature films. He died in 1989 at the age of 84.
Billy was also a song-writer. The writer of the obituary said his song writing was “impressive” since he wrote 500 songs.
I took encouragement from the description the writer of the obituary gave to his song writing. It was called impressive.
Even if 85 per-cent of one’s writing doesn’t get published it is still impressive. It’s still a body of work that one can be proud of and filed away without having to delete it because it never got published.
Billy’s work mostly got published, but 500 pieces of work is impressive, published or not.
I used to delete the pieces I wrote that I thought were unimpressive. Don’t think I’ll do that again.
